0:00 Let people be who they are. You be who you are. Kumbaya. Imagine. Imagine there are no borders. Imagine there is no possessions. Isn't that a beautiful concept? It's not just utopian. There's something almost dystopian about it, right? It takes us to this very chaotic place. And it's also ambiguous and vague like, "Wait, now am I letting them or now am I now am I being a dish rag? Now am I being a floorcloth? At what point do I stop letting this behavior?" I've seen this in parenting time and time again.
0:40 In parenting, it goes something like this. I want to be warm and loving and gentle with my parent with my kids. I never want them to feel damaged. I never want them to feel hurt by me. I never want them to be scared of me. And so I just I want to be a yes parent. I want to say yes. I want to validate their emotions. I want to meet them where they're at. I want to h I want them to feel my empathy. I want them to feel like there's nothing they could do that I wouldn't be proud of them and there's nothing they could do that I wouldn't right. And that desire becomes overmpathy. It becomes toxic empathy and it becomes boundaryless to the point where a child has no expectations on them. Oh, never mind. He never mind that he didn't clear his room, that he didn't clear his plate, that he's talking back to me, that he's rude and unruly to the guests, that he's a wild animal, that he's not working hard at school. Never mind. let him I just don't want him to feel my any kind of boundary cuz boundaries hurt. It's this idea that anything orderly, anything where there's hierarchy, anything where there's expectations and rules and standards, that's somehow the patriarchy, right?
1:43 That's somehow painful, that's somehow aggressive, that's somehow uh bad. So, I want to stay away from that. And the feminine, the feminine is all about that softness, right? Well, I I I don't buy that. I don't think so. I don't think that that's femininity.
