Speaker 1

0:00 Hi, I'm Parul Gupta from kidstalk Press. And today we're talking about topic that I think concerns everybody. The past year has been very stressful for everybody. And I think our health and immunity has been has taught us that basically our health and immunity is what is going to keep us going. And if you are looking for an option that you don't want to douse your family with medicines, with synthetic stuff, then this slide is for you.

Speaker 1

0:22 Today we have with us Dr. Radha Mani. She's a fourth generation Ayurvedic doctor and we have a lot of questions for her. I believe that you should be treating the cause rather than treating things asymptomatically. So let's see what she has to say.

Speaker 2

0:35 Hi, doctor. Hi. How are you?

Speaker 3

0:37 I'm good. How are you doing?

Speaker 2

0:38 All good. So we have a lot of questions for you. When we put it out that we were having the light with you, we got tons of questions. So let's get started because we want to get as much as we can into the short period of time. As per Ayurveda. What is the first thing one should drink in the morning?

Speaker 3

0:52 Okay, I will tell you one wonderful thing to start the morning. If you don't have bp, you can wake up in the morning and make a warm water drink with two glasses of water. Boil it, add 1 inch piece of cinnamon and 1 inch piece of licorice. Boil the water and reduce this two glass to one glass and have this first thing in the morning. Licorice and cinnamon both are very much pitta pacifying. It's very good for your stomach.

Speaker 3

1:18 It is amazing for your skin, for your hair. It is antioxidant, anti aging. It is everything like licorice is one of the herbs which are mentioned throughout in one of the Ayurvedic texts which is called Charaka Samhita. Throughout like this disease, have licorice. This have licorice like for everything. So it is so good. But it is not good for people who have high BP and people who have headache when they start the morning.

Speaker 2

1:43 Can kids have this as well?

Speaker 3

1:45 Kids can have it but in a milder form. So don't just make a te tea out of it. Don't make it into a decoction like how I said, like adding two glasses of water reducing to one glass. Don't do that for kids. For kids. If you want to give, just have. Just give it like a tea, like warm, like boil water.

Speaker 2

2:04 Yeah. The strength of it is what we can dilute.

Speaker 3

2:06 It's very good for the stomach. Very, very good for the stomach. Licorice is mulethi okay?
