0:00 Come on. Like, let's be grown-ups about this. You're you enter into a marriage. You're two halves of a whole. You're supposed to take each other as part of yourself. You're supposed to have an unconditionality. You're supposed to pull your resources. You're supposed to say, "I'll give 100% and you'll give 100%." And she's not doing that. She's just saying, "No, tit for tat eeny meenie miny mo. This is your job." And now here's the here's I want to layer on to this several more things. Okay?
0:27 There's a difference between men and women. Like, I'm so sorry. Cancel me. Sue me. Do whatever you want. It's just the truth. Okay? Are there men who are more effeminite? Yes. Are there women who are more masculine? Yes. But on average, there's a difference between men and women. And that's why there's a difference on average between division of labor in households. Okay? Because there's a difference. Let me just read to you. I pulled up some stats because I think it's important. Okay? Women generally outperform men in tasks requiring fine detail, memory of object location. Okay, you've all had this experience. You know where the summer sandals are for the kids and he has zero clue and will never find them with a magnifying glass and geocatching and nothing. He'll never find them, right? Because your brain is actually different. Your skills are actually different on average. Not every woman, not every man. I'm gonna stop saying that because, you know, um, okay, evolutionary psychologists theorize that traditional roles in foraging and caregiving required close attention to subtle environmental changes for women.
1:34 Okay? And that's why we've developed different types of heightened skills and temperaments. Women are on average more neurotic. Okay? They are more sensitive to negative emotion. They're different. Okay, we're different. Now, I don't know about you, but I don't want to change roles with my husband. I want him to play to his strengths and I want to play to my strengths. Okay, so yes, sometimes it's annoying that I have this mental load, but that's my my purpose in life. That's my package.
2:06 That's my mission. Those are my skills. That's what I'm better suited to. And I would prefer a world where we focus less on equity, i.e. everyone having the exact same outcome. Okay? And more on equality of opportunity where each of us can opt into the things that suit us best, right?
