00 The Pixel 11 is just a Pixel 10 with newer colors and incremental updates. They have the same display, the same RAM, nearly the same camera hardware, and the same design down to the camera bar. But, it does feel different. Now, I spent the last week with this phone using it as my daily driver, taking it through my work, my travel, late-night editing on the couch, and all that good stuff. And it feels like a different device to use every single day compared to the Pixel 10. It's not exactly day and night, and quite frankly, it could just be the way I use my phone, but feel different enough that I kept catching myself doing things on this phone that I never bothered to do on the Pixel 10 from last year. Starting with the display, it is a 6.3-in OLED actual panel with an adaptive refresh rate that goes from 60 to 120 Hz. That is the same exact panel that Google put on the Pixel 10 from last year. Peak brightness sits at 3,000 nits, and that number didn't exactly move an inch at the same time.

55 Now, to be fair, that still is a decent screen. It is pretty good, you know. Colors are rich, adaptive brightness handles bright sunlight and dark rooms without me thinking about it. The 120 Hz refresh rate still makes everything still feel smooth. But, good isn't exactly the same as new. And if you're coming from the Pixel 10, you are looking at your current screen right now. RAM also is 12 gigs, which is just the same amount that Google has been shipping in the base model for the last couple of generations now. The design followed the same pattern, you know, the same flat display, the same square edges, same pill-shaped camera bar that Google has been having since the Pixel 9, which was introduced a couple of years ago. If you outlets are calling the Pixel 11 the final version of this design language before Google does a total refresh, and after about a month of holding the Pixel 11, I get why they're saying it. It is comfortable, it's familiar, but it's also starting to feel like a design that has overstayed its welcome just a little bit. Wire charging barely moved either. The Pixel 10 had a 30-W charging, while the Pixel 11 has exactly the same thing. The back is still glossy, which is very annoying because it has a lot of fingerprint smudges. When shooting this video, I had to clean this phone every few minutes, which was very, very annoying. So, if you're keeping score while watching this video, the display, the RAM, the design, and wire charging are all the same from last year. Nothing here could get anyone excited to trading their perfectly good Pixel 10. So, if none of that changed, what did I actually notice using this every single day? Now, the camera setup looks identical on paper. 48-megapixel main camera, 13-megapixel ultra-wide, a 10.8-megapixel telephoto. So, if you were expecting a brand new lens this year, there isn't one. But, the main sensor itself is physically bigger this time around. In actual use, low-light shots are noticeably cleaner than what I remember from the Pixel 10. It has less grain, better color retention when the sun goes down, which is very good. The zoom also got real at the same time, a real tangible upgrade. You get Super Res Zoom that climbed from 20x to 30x on the base model. If you shoot a lot of distant images, you know, so this really works in your favor. The battery on the Pixel 11 also got a small upgrade. It is a 4985 milliampere battery compared to the Pixel 10's 4970. Numbers don't lie, but in this case, it really doesn't matter. You're going to be getting the same similar battery experiences as the Pixel 10. I get 6 hours on the Pixel 11 with 5G on most of the day. And I'm talking about social media scrolling, YouTube videos, connecting Spotify to my speakers, and of course, video calls. 6 hours of screen on time puts your phone dying around evening period, around 6:00 or 7:00 p.m. By then, most people are going to be at home and just give it a charge. And speaking of charging, wireless charging is the real upgrade.

35 It jumped from 15 watts to 25 watts with the new Qi 2.2 standard. So, if you're someone who tops up on a charging pad throughout the day instead of plugging in overnight, it is a quality-of-life improvement. Okay, this is the part that actually answer why this feels different because on the inside, underneath a shell that has barely changed, this is a much bigger update than the outside lets on. Now, the Pixel 11 runs on the new Tensor G6 chip. It is more nuanced than a straightforward upgrade. CPU performance is up somewhere around 17 to 21% over last year's Tensor G5. GPU performance is fine for casual gaming and not good for AAA gaming, but that's the same story that we've known Tensor to be for the last few years, maybe even 6 years. If you're a hardcore mobile gamer, this phone is not for you. Either way, it is still getting outpaced badly by Snapdragon and Apple. Where Google is actually putting their money is in the TPU, the part of the chip that handles the AI stuff specifically. Google claims up to 50% more AI processing power and up to 3.5x faster on-device AI performance. What I can tell you from actually using this on a day-to-day basis is that apps open fast, scrolling is very smooth, there's basically zero stutter in your daily experience with the phone, and Gemini Intelligence is in idle, you know, waiting for you to make things happen. It is working for actively across your messages, your Gmail, calendar, your maps, you know, trying to get you ahead of what you need to do before you even think of asking it to do it. It isn't perfect, it does make a lot of mistakes just like every other AI system, but I found it very useful in my day-to-day more than anything that I've used on any other device, Pixel or otherwise. That being said, a lot of these features are only available in North America. So, if you're outside North America, this might come to you down the line or it might never come at all. Trust me, I've been there. So, within the camera app, there is magic capture and it fundamentally changes how you think about pressing the shutter button. So, instead of recording a video or taking a picture, you just record and Gemini then analyzes around 400 frames in the background to pull the best moments out as a 12-megapixel still, automatically cropping and unblurring them along the way. It does sound like a gimmick, to be honest, and it is very situational. So, it's a nice to have more than something I know I will use as much. For the photographers or people that like to have presets on the pictures, camera look is another feature worth calling out, and it flips the usual editing workflow on its head because instead of shooting a picture then applying a filter or a look afterwards, you pick the visual before you even take the picture. So, what you see in the viewfinder is closer to what you end up getting at the end of the picture. It is a pretty decent feature if I'm being honest, this is for the everyday person, but I still prefer to use the default Pixel look and then edit them in Lightroom or VSCO or whatever editing software that I want to use. Google also rolled out a sign language to text feature on the Pixel 11. This is built to help deaf and hard of hearing users search their messages and interact with Gemini more naturally. It's a small but great feature that is added. This will help so many people that need that accessibility.

40 >> >> So, to me, the Pixel 11 feels different not because it's the newest version of the Pixel, but because Google changed what the phone does for you. It's always been the smartest smartphone, and honestly, it is very impressive how much Google is still adding to their lineup each year. So, the price is $899, which is a $100 increase from the Pixel 10's $799. And for a phone that is mostly the same hardware underneath on the surface, it is a very hard sell. Two things soften that price bump, however, you know, the base storage jumped from 128 gigs to 256 gigs. So, part of that $100 is actually going towards something that you can use on a daily basis. And more importantly, the value proposition this year isn't just about the hardware.

22 It's the software. It's magic capture saving your shots that you missed. It's Gemini working across your phone instead of being locked in one app or one folder. It is the camera that handles low lights noticeably better with the same exact lens from last year. So, is this really worth the extra $100? If you're already on a Pixel 10, hell no. I don't think it would make sense for you to switch. You already have most of what makes this phone good, and I wouldn't tell you to trade a perfectly fine phone for almost the same phone with incremental updates. Most of which will probably be coming to your Pixel anyway in the nearest future. But if you're coming from anything older like the Pixel 8, the 7, or even the 6, then I think yes, the Pixel 11 is a decent recommendation. And if you really, really want to save money, you would get the Pixel 10 instead of the Pixel 11. It is the better purchase, and I'm pretty sure you can get it cheaper on the used market like Facebook Marketplace, for example. I don't know. What this phone really tells us is something about where Google is headed next more than it tells us about this specific device. Google is very comfortable with not having the best hardware in the industry, and will happily allow the software to carry the entire experience.

31 Next year is probably where they have to bring both at the same time, a new design shift paired with whatever Gemini becomes after this, and maybe, just maybe, the Pixel come back so and live up to the expectation.
