0:00 So if you don't have a vision, then you don't have a vision. If you do have a vision, then you do have a vision. Ultimately, you need some guiding principle or some compass, but you don't need that at all times and you don't need to force it. If you just know what the next step is, you should take the next step and sometimes we're telling ourselves a a story that is not true about the nature of discovery and how it happens. And I think we do a disservice to everybody when we go back and [music] retell the story in a way that is not honest. If you do have a vision, you should be clear about that and clear how confident you are in that. And if you don't have a vision, I think you can take the next step and allow the vision to come.

Summary

Having a vision can guide your journey, but it isn't always necessary to take action. It's important to recognize that discovery is a process that doesn't always require a clear vision; sometimes, simply knowing the next step is sufficient.

- A vision acts as a guiding principle but isn't mandatory for progress.
- It's acceptable to take the next step without a fully formed vision.
- Many people create false narratives about the nature of discovery.
- Honesty in storytelling about personal journeys is crucial.
- Clarity about one's vision and confidence in it can enhance decision-making.
- Embracing uncertainty can lead to the emergence of a vision over time.
