0:00 Foreign, Sure. Everybody is in the spirit to get on a holiday, get on a plane, get on a train and that's just what we are going to do. So stay tuned for all our travel stories beginning this Friday because we are going on a holiday. Okay. More importantly, as Indian moms, we just tend to pack so much. Like food is like the biggest thing in our lives and we tend to overpack and just, I think we, I think we just assume though we're not going to get food and we're actually going to a place where food is running in short supply.
0:37 But that's really not the reality. So let's get straight into understanding what I'm going to pack and some of the tips that I have over the period of years found really, really helpful. Make a list of just the number of meals or mid meals that you're actually going to need. That way you will pack just right. Don't carry your kitchen wherever you're going. I just feel like food is such a, such an important part of the holiday.
1:01 It's the best way to integrate into the culture, the taste, the flavor, all of that. And the best, best recommendation is eat local because that's just the best way to enjoy your holiday. Freeze things that you know you can freeze. So like fruits, vegetables, dairy. So I pretty much like to freeze the milk, the yogurt, you know, the vegetables or the fruits that we're going to carry because just when you're supposed to eat them, it works brilliantly.
1:27 And it can also serve as an ice bag for the other foods that you're going to carry. Pack non messy snacks. Don't try to think that, you know, let me pack stuff that my kids are gonna eat, however messy it is. No, if you're gonna be on a train or a plane, you trust me, you're just not gonna like all the mess that they make. Portion control. Always carry your snacks in the right size bag. So for your treats, make sure that the bags are probably this size or if you need to take a slightly bigger one so you can accommodate the snack that you're actually going to pack or something that really needs to be had only in so much size, you can pick and choose your Ziploc sizes.
2:04 That's what I pretty much do. And if you have two kids, then you want to make sure you carry two of these so there are no fights because on a holiday you don't want to lose your sanity. Make sure that you carry just the right size when you're carrying milk, yogurt, cheese, all of that because then it's about using chuck and as Indian moms, otherwise you're always in the situation of how do I store the leftover milk?
2:26 If you're carrying like a large ish bag, don't forget to carry sanitizing wipes because there are enough germs on the plane or train or a car ride that you're actually going for and kids will make a mess. So be ready for it. You know, travel snacks serve three purposes, right? It's either nourishment, it is tantrum dealing and of course, substituting snacks or meals that the kids actually might miss. Or you know, when you're on the go and you can't find something very easily or it's not food is not easily accessible.
2:54 So those are the three purposes that it serves. So let's keep it that way, right? The food that you want them to eat, make sure it's in their bag. The treats stay still in your bag. So you have the last word on everything. So that's how I essentially prefer packing. Don't forget Mommy and daddy. I think this tip is like my favorite because like I always say that happy parents, happy moms and happy dads are always happier parents.
3:19 You also need the portion control and you also need the portion sizes. So make sure you pack for yourself too. Relax, take a deep breath. These four or five days of holiday are not going to like suddenly shoot up your child's nutrition quotient. Of course, I don't mean that you need to completely go berserk and make them like a sugar junkie. But of course, pick and choose your battles, right? If you want to have a holiday too and keep sane, then really just really pick and choose.
3:46 Pick the healthier junk of the junk that's already available. And of course just plan in advance because I don't think there's any problem that you can actually not solve if you just plan right ahead in advance. So make sure you do that and have happy holidays, guys. Just relax. Have a great holiday. But don't forget to give us a thumbs up right now. Do that now. And of course like share and subscribe. Make sure you subscribe also right now and leave your comments below so we know what videos you want to watch and we will be back again later this week.
