0:23 to be late again so in this video we're going over five ways to speed up your morning routine so you can get those kids out the door on time hey guys I'm Jason Craven and welcome to another episode of dad University be sure to give this video a thumbs up subscribe to the channel and click on that notification bell so you know when our videos are uploaded also it really helps us spread our message when you share these videos so maybe you
0:55 know a couple people that might enjoy it please share it with them let's just get this out of the way first if your kids are late for school especially if you have young kids it's your fault now if you have teens or older kids well that's actually your fault too but we're not gonna discuss that in this video we'll save that for another one as parents it's our responsibility to teach our children the ways of the world the
1:22 morning routine is one of those great things that has just been passed down from generation to generation I'm being a little dramatic but the morning routine is important it's how we start our day I see parents showing up late all the time at my kids school you've got those parents that are just frantically looking for a parking spot or that same kid who's always running towards the gate before they close it so that they're not late again we need them
1:49 to wake up get dressed eat and get out the door on time when the kids are younger there can be a little bit of a learning curve here it may take a thousand times for them to get it right so in an attempt to make your mornings a little bit smoother I've put together five easy tips to get your morning routine underway and get those kids out the door on time these are things that work for me number
2:17 one make lunches the night before making lunch the night before is going to save a lot of time in the morning less decisions to make less hassle less fuss also if they are third grade or older they should be making their own lunches if they're younger than that then they can certainly still help make their own lunch the important part of them being responsible for their lunches it teaches them responsibility they become responsible for their routine and
2:47 you want that to happen anything that you can do the night before is going to help speed up the morning routine so that brings us to number two layout or choose their clothes the night before if they're in preschool or kindergarten maybe you give them two choices to make it a little bit easier for them but if they're in first grade or older they should be choosing their own clothes by now they want to wear two different
3:12 color socks who cares they want to wear something that doesn't match does it really matter we often will control what our kids are wearing and how they look because we feel like it's a reflection of us there's there's a whole thing about it let them choose what they want to wear unless it's inappropriate or it's breaking school rules let them choose if you're a control freak then yes give them a couple of options to choose from or have a designated area of
3:42 clothes that you know you are okay with but either way let them have a choice of what they want to wear and put those clothes out the night before next number three quick breakfast if you're trying to get the kids off to school you have a limited amount of time in the morning but breakfast is so important to me I exercise in the mornings and I am so hungry after I exercise but I don't want to sacrifice the quality of my breakfast
4:10 just for convenience in something fast but that brings us to the sponsor of today's video egg bytes by three bridges this product checks a lot of boxes for me first it tastes amazing I'm not going to endorse a product unless I really love the taste of it it's also protein rich so you stay full longer and as I said I exercise all the time and so for me having protein in the morning is a necessity these egg whites are never
4:37 frozen and it's just clean eating made easy you pop them in the microwave for 90 seconds and you're ready to go you have fast real ingredients for parents who have limited time I really like this product they come in a variety of flavors but I got to tell you I like the bell pepper and cheese one the best the next thing you can do to speed up your child's morning routine number four make a morning routine chart we did a
5:05 previous video in which we went in a pretty great detail on how to make a morning routine chart but in general you figure out what time you need to leave and then all of the different activities that your child needs to do in order to leave on time so maybe you're gonna leave at 8 o'clock so they need to wake up at 7 they need to eat their egg bites at 7:15 they need to get dressed at 7:30
5:29 etc if your child is too young to read and you can put pictures on the chart to help identify the different things that come next you want to put maybe one in the bathroom one in the kitchen and maybe one in their room as well the idea here is it breaks things up into small increments but also helps them become responsible for their own routine and that's what we ultimately want we want them to take responsibility for it so
5:55 that you are not yelling and you are not telling them what to do of course in the beginning you're gonna have to say actually not just in the beginning but for quite some time hey you just did this now what comes next now what should we be doing next at 7:15 etc now one of the easiest solutions to improving your morning routine but probably not the favorite of most people is number five get up earlier if you've tried number one
6:22 through four and maybe it's just not working for you then give yourself a little bit of extra time and set that alarm earlier I get up pretty early every morning for 40 I am and the reason I do that is not because I love the mornings I do that so that I can get my stuff done like exercise my breakfast and everything else prior to the rest of the house waking up it's my quiet time it's the
6:49 time that I know I can get done what I need to get done because when the rest of the house is awake you never know what happens as I said earlier in this video it's our job to teach our kids how to have an effective morning routine we have to take the responsibility that it's our role to make sure that they're on time so don't be that parent racing to the school so that you don't have
7:12 that kid that's running into the gate so that they're not late again I would love to hear from you do you struggle with getting your kids out the door in the morning what's that thing that's causing you the most trouble leave your feedback in the comment section below if you found this video helpful you don't want to miss what we have for you in our other videos be sure to give this video a thumbs up subscribe to the channel and
7:33 click on that notification bell so you know when our videos are uploaded also it really helps us spread our message when you share these videos so maybe you know a couple people that might enjoy it please share it with them we'll see you next week [Music]
