0:00 I just got back from dubai with my 6 year old and 5 month old and can we talk about how different traveling is with two children? I have always loved traveling with my daughter. Holidays were genuinely relaxing across India and even places like Europe, Thailand and Singapore were fab. But this time with a baby in the mix, it was a whole different experience. My 6 year old is very selfish on a vacation she wants to do.
0:20 Beach, pool, are in the bathtub and that's always been the case and with one child it was super easy to manage. But now they the baby needed nappy changes and naps. Sometimes I had to go back to the room for feed. So I'm feeding while my husband's doing pool duty. You know, we're just trying to make sure both their needs are met. And here's what really got us. Baby would wake up at 6am for a feed that would wake Aish up and the whole day we'd all be exhausted because she wasn't day napping, which is the usual case on all holidays.
0:47 So not this time. So by 8pm she was completely done and ready for bed and 8pm is when we do dinner. So the one day we actually managed to go out for dinner, we had to go at 7 o' clock and we weren't even hungry. Anyway, we sit at lunch, it was absolutely beautiful and stunning. We made lovely memories. It was a trip of firsts, but I'm not gonna lie, we were exhausted. Like we took the break but we were tired on the break.
1:08 Now the last part of the holiday we shifted to a two bedroom apartment in a hotel which was massive. And that was a game changer because at 5 or 6am, when the baby would wake up for a feed, I just put him with my husband and then we'd all nap in separate rooms till 8.30am no one was waking anyone up. So by the time the holiday ended, both babies were completely settled. And I was like, the holiday should be starting now, right?
1:29 The last few days were so much more chill. But honestly, what really helped us through the whole thing was not having an itinerary, not having expectations. I was very, very clear with myself. I'm just taking a break. I'm just going to be parenting with a view. And if my husband and I get any time to connect, I would consider that as a bonus. And we actually made that happen in the last few days of the trip.
1:49 Now, my friends always joke that I don't travel with a nanny and I don't need to because I do travel with a manny who's my husb who literally does everything on a vacation. Like I'm pretty useless on holidays but this time because we both had babies, even the manny needed backup. So I was very much involved which I think is also why I have found holidays so relaxing before. Anyway, we were in Dubai, we had a lot of friends there.
2:14 We could do some lunches, dinners. We got outside, the weather was lovely, we made lovely memories, enjoyed ourselves as much as we could. But I'd be sugarcoating if I didn't tell you it was hard. It was genuinely hard. But. But I'm really curious, how do you manage to travel with multiple children? What's been your experience? Do you find it relaxing or it's just parenting in a different location? And those of you who are asking me if I would do it again, knowing how it goes, yes, I would do it again but I would skip Atlantis and I would just stick to apartments.
