0:00 I graduated without a job. Those were the toughest months of my life, but now you top 1% of the Silicon Valley. In this video, I'm going to be talking about N8N workflows. It runs at 7:00 a.m. in the morning, tries to find the most recent job postings, it optimizes your resume for that job posting all while you're sleeping. There are mass layoffs happening currently. Big companies are laying off, startups are laying off, and there's one reason, AI. And hence, to combat this, I want you to start using AI for your job search. Hi, I'm Abhijay, a Harvard MBA and a product manager at Google. I came to the US, took a heavy loan for my education, and guess what? I graduated without a job. Those were the toughest months of my life where I was trying to struggle to get a job. I would manually submit 100 plus applications a day. But guess what? Automated rejections, no replies, not even an interview. But then, AI changed it. And today, [music] AI has gotten so good that it can completely automate your job hunting process. Welcome to another episode of the AI Action Letter, which is read by top 1% of the Silicon Valley. I'm read by over 180,000 people in the last 6 months. [music] In this AI Action Letter episode, I'll be sharing 10 tips that have helped me and many other students and working professionals land dream jobs in Apple, Meta, TikTok, consulting, chief of staff, VC, just whatever that you need. I'll be splitting these tips into three journeys in a job search process. So, we'll start first with the process of finding for jobs. How do you actually find for jobs and which are the right kind of jobs to apply to? The second part would be the application part of it. How do you apply for jobs?
1:29 How do you prepare for these jobs? The third part would be post the job. Let's say if you have gotten a job, how can I use AI to actually get the best outcome for me? In this video, I'm going to be talking about N8N workflows, but the problem is N8N workflow costs $24 a month. Please don't do that. Instead, self-host it using Hostinger, which gives you [music] $7 a month. In fact, if you subscribe for 12 months or more, you can get additional 10% off using the code in the description below or just using the special link I've set up. Very quickly, why our Stinger is better.
1:58 First of all, it's super scalable. Second of all, it's one-click installation, so super easy for those who are starting out with N8N. Third, they also have an AI VPS assistant built in, so in case you're stuck in some configuration, you can ask it questions to help you out. So, just click on the link in the description below to save hundreds of dollars. Tip number one, don't apply for the easy apply jobs on LinkedIn. Trust me, I would do this every day and feel happy about my application. But, those applications were the ones that never worked out.
2:26 I'll tell you why. When you look up a job on LinkedIn and go and apply, the problem is there already 100 plus applicants for that job, which means your resume doesn't even get noticed. So, there's no point for applying on jobs on LinkedIn. Stop doing that. LinkedIn easy apply is a myth and will not get you any job. Then you'd ask me, "Hey, then how do I search for jobs? Isn't LinkedIn the only place?" Yes, LinkedIn is the place to search for jobs, but you want to search for the most recent jobs. And here's exactly how you can do it. Tip number two, you can use Claude with Appify, which actually finds the most recent jobs.
2:59 What I want you to do is open up Claude and enter this exact prompt. Then put in the different parameters, such as the jobs you're interested in. For example, let's say AI product manager, location San Francisco, and then enable this Appify connector. Once you hit enter, you'll see Claude has generated this beautiful spreadsheet, which you can actually filter by your years of experience [music] and even your chance of getting in because it gives you an ATS score. If you click on one of these jobs, you'll actually notice these are the recent jobs as you can see that these have been clicked by very few people. So, make sure that you use Appify with Claude to get the most recent job posting. In fact, you can choose the setting to be less than 24 hours, so that you get the jobs in the last 24 hours right into your inbox. You can automate this entire process by telling Claude to run at 7:00 a.m. in the morning. So, when you wake up, you actually get most recent job postings and you can be the first one to apply for these. Tip number three, another secret source of getting the best jobs is to actually find jobs by the hiring managers. Now, what most people do today is that they'd actually try to go on LinkedIn and try to find the jobs which are in the job section or they go to like different job boards like Greenhouse and the company websites and so on and so forth. Everybody's doing that. But the real people who are getting the jobs are the ones who are directly talking to the hiring manager.
4:11 I want you to open ChatGPT, Gemini, any LLM you like and put in this exact prompt. What this prompt would do is then it would actually find the posts from hiring managers on LinkedIn which are again very recent. So, if you click on one of these, let's say query A, you'll actually be taken to Google search which has indexed all these posts by hiring managers and if you click on one of them, you can see there is a hiring manager who's posted this job and you can directly DM them on LinkedIn to actually get a response and set up your first interview. Tip number four, use LLMs [music] to optimize your resume for the ATS. Yes, you can use AI to actually add the relevant keywords to your resume. What I want you to do is next time you see any job description, just copy paste it and put it into any LLM and add this exact prompt. What this prompt tells the LLM is that, "Hey, this is my resume. Here's the job description. Tell me what keywords are missing from my resume that are present in this job description and what should I change?" This will give you very, very actionable tips to actually get that job. Tip number five, use AI automation tools to automatically apply for jobs on your behalf and automatically optimize your resume for ATS. Here's what this N8N automation does. You give it your resume and you tell it the kind of jobs that you're interested in. Now, what this N8N automation does is it runs at 7:00 a.m. in the morning. It tries to find the most recent job postings. After that, it identifies a job posting and then for every job posting, it optimizes your resume for that job posting and in the morning you actually get an email like this which has all the relevant links to your resume which have been updated for that job description all while you're sleeping. This means your entire job search process is automated.
5:40 Each of these are links to your resume which are changed, optimized for that particular job description which was suited for your profile. And you just have to set it up. It takes literally 30 seconds to set this automation up and you are good to go. I want to demo this workflow which automatically optimizes my resume for the ATS while I'm asleep. I'm going to just click on execute workflow. I'm going to explain to you how exactly this is working. So, what's happening here is you need to first have this workflow configuration. This is basically a file where you need to add in this resume file ID which will be from your Google Drive. So, wherever you have a hosted your resume, just copy paste this in.
6:14 That's the only thing that you need to change and also the job search query for the jobs that you are interested in. The email where you want to get receive a final output email and your AP file tokens. You can set this up. I have a full tutorial on this. Once you've done that, as you can see the flow kicks off and what it's doing is now it's getting the most recent jobs which have been posted in the last 24 to 48 hours to give you an edge and be the first one to apply for these postings.
6:40 Because what happens is usually if you're applying to job postings which have been there for like 5-6 days, there already like thousands of applicants and your resume won't get noticed. So, you can put this on auto which means that every morning 7:00 a.m. this runs and what it's doing is now it's identifying the most recent job postings and for each of the them, it's looking at your resume and saying how you should change your resume to ensure that it has all the matching keywords and it's doing it all on autopilot as you can see.
7:07 And now we're going to go into the uh the ATS optimizer agent and we have The best part about this is it's actually going to give you a well-formatted resume, not a very generic one, which means this is through LaTeX. Um you can actually configure it based on the sections you want, but the one that is already by default is pretty much the standard. And now if you see, uh this actually creates an email summary for the job postings.
7:29 I've limited right now the items to only two jobs. You can actually increase it to like 5, 10, 15, as many. And then I'm going to open my email and let's see what happens, right? I'm going to open this email. Let's see if I actually get an email. Should ideally have sent me an email, and I'm waiting to receive that email. Now, as you can see, this gets me a resume. It says, "Okay, it found me a senior IT project manager, technical writer, AI and machine learning." Of course, then I when I click on the um PDF resume for this Databricks posting, I see that I have a Of course, this I've not added my name and stuff, but you can add it, and you can see this is my resume, but it's catered to this position having all the keywords uh which are important for this role.
8:08 Uh and you can see it's highlighted the data aspect of my profile because it's this is in in the AI domain. And if you see here, this role from Databricks is pretty [music] recent. When you run this AI automation, make sure that you have the Superbase integration enabled because what this does is it ensures that you're not applying for repetitive jobs or the AI is not searching for jobs again for which your resume is already optimized.
8:29 That ways, you can also keep a track of the status of your applications and ensure that whenever you are applying, you know which jobs are already applied to, which resumes you already are ready with. But there's a problem with this n8n workflow. Now, if you leave it overnight, for example, to run for days, there're going to be duplicate jobs. Which means this n8n workflow will keep running and quickly start exhausting your credits for the LLM engine, the n8n, and all the services that you have used. To optimize for the costs, make sure you have a Superbase node which stores all the jobs that you've already applied. That ways, when it finds a job which has already been processed, it won't run the workflow for that job, saving you time and the credits for the LLM and n8n. As you can see in this workflow, we are using n8n as a source of truth to track all the jobs that we have applied to so far. And then we make sure that we're not applying to these jobs again. Another use case why Superbase could be helpful is let's say that uh you had a base resume, and now you applied for a product marketing role. Now, let's say the next role that you're applying for a product marketing analyst role, you shouldn't be using the base resume which will have so many more edits, but actually be picking the product marketing one. The semantic search powered by Superbase will actually make this way faster and help you run this workflow much faster. The addition of Superbase to this workflow turns this from a simple CRM to a professional job CRM. Click on the link below and I'd recommend getting the one-year version because if you're going to be running this for months, you can save on costs by adding Superbase and making sure that your workflow is optimized. Click the link below to set up Superbase. I've put together a doc which is the guide for you to actually copy-paste this JSON, set up the database schema in Superbase and get started. Tip number six, irrespective of all the AI, the best way that you can actually get a job is by getting a warm referral. Try to find somebody you know at the company who can vouch for you and tell the hiring manager that, "Hey, I know this person. This person is great.
10:19 You should definitely talk to them." Just to get that first interview. This was a game-changer in my process and I highly recommend for anyone to try to get a warm referral. You can again use AI in this process to draft the perfect outreach email to your friend or colleague to get the warm referral. Put in your LinkedIn profile and ask an them with this prompt to generate a cold email for them to give you a warm referral. This will 10x your chances of getting that job. Tip number seven, use AI automation to directly find the email IDs of hiring manager. This AI automation exactly does that. So, what this automation does is it runs at a designated time and you can give it a search string. Let's say for example, product managers working at YouTube on GenAI features. And what this would do is it would actually run a Boolean search in the background and from Google fetch the indexed results or the profiles of the people. It would then talk to a service which provides emails like hunter.io or apollo.io and verify the emails from the context it gathered from that Boolean search to actually get you the email IDs of those hiring managers. What's even better is that when you open your drafts folder of your Gmail, you'll actually find a ready to copy-paste drafts personalized to your profile which you can directly send the hiring manager to set up those first interviews. Again, this was a game-changer in my hiring process and I highly recommend that you set up. Make sure that you integrate this again with Superbase because that will ensure that you don't repeat or spam your hiring managers. This agent cuts through all of that. It directly gets you their email ID, writes them a personalized cold email, and gives you the entire context about the person by doing a full research.
11:44 Let's look at the results now. This was executed live, so let's see. Uh if you go to the to the LinkedIn agent, and let's see. It It basically says product managers who are working at So, it it managed to get two of the the IDs. It didn't get this one completely right. It's still an agent, but still the idea here is it says that, "Hey, it it gives you like a subject for the email, and it says that, 'I hope this email finds you well.'" It also gives you the LinkedIn URL for the person to reach out to. This is somebody who's working at New York at Snap. And it knows the context about you, so it has written a personalized email. Tip number eight. Don't just apply for roles like product manager. Be open and cast a wide net. The market is bad right now. You also want to apply for adjacent roles.
12:24 For example, if you're applying for a data analyst, you may apply for also a data activation analyst. >> Similarly, if you're applying for a product manager, you may also apply for a product marketing manager, so on and so forth. So, always apply for adjacent roles, because once you get into a company, the internal shifts are very easy, especially in big tech. Tip number nine. Now, let's assume that you've actually gotten that first interview, and you're ready to talk to your hiring manager. What I want you to do is use AI to prepare for this interview. Here's what you should do. Copy-paste the exact job description. Copy-paste the LinkedIn profile of your hiring manager. And then put in exactly this prompt on the screen. And then connect this ideally with Claude, and ask it to generate an HTML page for an interview prep guide for you. What this does is it'll generate 10 to 15 questions. Some are technical, some are behavioral, with all the distinct patterns that have been asked in the past, based on your profile and the hiring manager's profile and the job description. That way, you can ensure that you are very well prepared, and this will also help you identify gaps in your preparation. Tip number 10.
13:20 Let's say you get that job now, and you are in the salary negotiation process. Don't make that mistake of saying, "I want X number." You want to play smart here. Let me give you an example. Companies in Silicon Valley offer high signing bonuses because it's a one-time payout. If a company is lowballing you, you don't want to be there. You want to have data to back your answer and exactly where you can use Claude. Open up Claude and enter this exact prompt which will help you negotiate your salary and give you the most accurate salaries for your range so you know that you're not getting lowballed. Those were just 10 tips for you, but I write way more and have many more tips on the AI Action Letter which is of course free for you to subscribe. I'm going to pin it up in the description for you to have a look. But if you want five more additional tips of using AI to enhance your job search, just comment guide on this post and I'll personally DM you all the remaining tips as well. [music] Okay, thanks for watching. This is Abhijay from the AI Action Letter and I hope you'll be back again to watch more of my videos. Please consider subscribing.
