0:31 let's first go over the three types of attention the first one is positive attention we do this with affection or praise and we can make lead ooh this when they do something really well the second kind of attention is negative attention we do this way may misbehave this could be threats yelling or lectures that kind of stuff the last one is no attention this is basically just ignoring them so here's the problem
1:01 negative attention is still a reward they're still getting their attention let me repeat that negative attention is still a reward the problem is is that children want to tension all the time and if they're not getting positive attention guess what they'll misbehave and get negative attention it's still a reward they're getting attention as parents we give our kids so much negative attention when was the last
1:32 time that you gave your child some positive attention for not doing anything just basically something that they're supposed to do as an example you and your brother are playing so nicely together or something like thank you so much for putting your clothes away or you know what this morning I noticed you gave your sister the first choice on the television show that was really really nice of you give them positive attention and it will reinforce the positive
