0:07 welcome i'm so glad you're interested in the supporting your child's learning membership whether you're homeschooling or looking to supplement your child's school-based learning the membership will help you to support your child's intrinsic love of learning in your first year in the membership we'll cover a new module of content each month starting with the process that happens as your child is learning so you can recognize it when you see it and how to do your first learning exploration
0:30 which is where you work with your child to explore a topic that's based on their interests you'll see them engage in deep learning by looking at how this new topic fits into the framework of knowledge they already have forming hypotheses figuring out how to find resources that will extend their knowledge and documenting what they've learned from there we'll go deeper into eight more topics like scaffolding metacognition and critical thinking at the beginning of each month you get a
0:56 guide that walks you through the module topic as well as a summary to skim or share with other family members we'll help you define your vision for your child's learning so you'll know what you want to get out of the membership and you can join a small peer coaching group of up to five members plus an experienced leader who will support you in breaking down your long-term goals into manageable steps you'll be able to watch mini-lesson
1:18 videos to answer commonly asked questions and you'll join our private community that isn't on facebook if you get stuck you can get answers through the online community through a video recording to answer your question or potentially through a one-on-one consult with me we'll also have group coaching calls for the first three months to make sure you're on the right track and because parents who join the learning membership often want to dive deep you'll get a recommended reading list of books and
1:43 articles to take your own learning further if you'd like to do this although you certainly don't have to if you don't want to we have parents in the community who have been homeschooling for years and others whose children are in school some parents in the community are full-time caregivers while others are employed full-time no matter what your family's school or work arrangement the membership will provide judgment-free resources for you and your family if you are homeschooling the learning
2:09 membership can form the backbone of your homeschool experience like it is for our family you'll create the documentation you might need to show that learning is happening without the stress and angst of dragging your child through curriculum-based learning if your child's in school but you've seen the research showing that children's natural curiosity pretty much drops off in the first couple of years as they learn that their job is now to answer the teachers questions rather than ask their own the learning
2:35 membership will help you to maintain their intrinsic love of learning and gain skills related to things like place-based learning and full-bodied learning that go far beyond what they'll cover in school i can't wait to work with you to support your child's learning just sign up below to get started [Music]
