You walk into any home with kids today and chances are you'll find at least one person glued to a screen deep into Roblox, headphones on, chatting away with friends, Noobag, Zombie Run, Strus. If you've heard these names, you know exactly what I'm talking about. The platform has become a hunting ground for predators. >> The most popular online sites for teens and kids, Roblox. >> But here's what shook me. 95% of Indian parents are worried about screen addiction. 80% fear gaming addiction.

70% worry about adult content. 66% already see their kids addicted to gaming and social media. And it's not just numbers. Parents are seeing their children snap in anger, lose patience, irritable, ready to hit, fight, stab over little things, slip into lethargy. some even into depression. This isn't just screen time. This is childhood being rewired before our eyes. Let's talk Roblox. In 2025, it has 111 million daily active users and 60% of them are under 13. That is a whopping 65 million children. It calls itself the ultimate virtual universe where kids can build, play, chat, and even earn. Sounds fun, right? Think of this. But here's the dark truth. Predators are using it as a hunting ground. Players can build the ultimate theme park, compete at a professional race car driver, star in a fashion show, become a superhero, or simply design a dream home and hang out with their friends. Now, that sounds pretty creative, actually, right?

However, reports are surfacing almost every week about Roblox being used by predators, pedophiles to target young kids. Qatar recently banned Roblox altogether. New lawsuits are piling up accusing it of enabling child exploitation. And yet, many parents still think it's just cute little kids game. The danger lies in user generated condo games filled with graphic sexual content, violent YouTube spin-offs, open chat rooms with strangers, and even third party apps disguised as Roblox add-ons. All it takes is one message, one picture request, one moment of trust for your child's innocence to be shattered. But here's the truth. Most parents miss. Safest parents aren't the ones who ban the game. They're the ones who sit next to their kids. Learn the game and set boundaries together. Make sure that you set up parental tools. Use spin protected settings. Enter your child's real age so safe filters activate. Most importantly, be present because predators aren't just behind screens. They're behind strategies. And the only real defense is us parents who refuse to look away. Roblox isn't just a game. For some kids, it's the front line of danger. Don't just stand in the doorways, sit down, take the controller, and protect what matters most, your child's safety. Now, you may say, "My, why is this important?" Recently, a 27year-old man from Bear, Delaware was arrested for allegedly kidnapping an 11-year-old girl he met through online gaming platform including Roblox. The girl was reported missing from Wayne, New Jersey on September 10, 2023 and was later found in Bear, Delaware, approximately 135 mi away. Now, what often happens is that our kids, they don't understand that there are people who are pedophiles and people who are predators who are chasing them behind these games. They may innocently ask them for just a simple image or upgrade their levels. And they may very innocently do this. We recently recorded an episode with Supreme Court advocate Kushb Buu Jen and I'm going to leave the link of that episode in the show notes below. So make sure you go ahead and watch it. And she said mani it's not that your children know that this is happening across the screen. They're sometimes doing it very innocently. You need to play game not know that which game they're playing because you know when you play games that fourth level of the game is going very smooth. Fourth level is there. They ask you that you know go to next you have to strip this lady and it psychologically impacts the child. Sometimes it is just to up a level. Sometimes a predator might just ask them that hey can you send me a new photo of yourself or can you send me a picture of you without your clothes and they may just do it thinking that oh if this a friend of mine has done it I should do it too because my friend has jumped that level and maybe that's the way that's my ticket to get to the next level and if everybody is doing it why don't I do it? Your children are doing it innocently. They do not understand that there are predators and pedophiles across the screen. Sometimes they're sitting and the clues and passwords that the predator is actually asking them could be, "Hey, you have a green background behind you or you have a red sofa and then next time your child is actually kidnapped or you go to this school and the next time your child is actually kidnapped, they will blackmail you to tell you that, oh, you have a green bookshelf right behind you or have a red sofa or your child actually goes to the school." when your child may not be in their custody but you will fall into this trap. It's very important for us as parents to understand that the only way to keep our kids safe from any games including roadblock is to ensure that we are having conscious connections with them. And also a very very important part to this whole conversation is to co-consume games with your children so that they know that you are by their side and you know what the predators or people across the games are asking. People in the chat room are they your children's age? Possibly not because they're all faking their age and faking their gender. So your child actually feels like they're possibly talking to a 13-year-old, but they are not. So it's very important that you are part of that chat room.
