Linda Perry on P!nk and Writing “Get the Party Started” as a Joke

Said, I think you have the wrong Linda Perry. I'm not hip. And she's like, oh, is this Linda Perry from 4 Non Blondes? You wrote Dear Mr. President. I'm like, yeah. And she's like, I got the right Linda Perry. And I had just written Get the Party Started.

I'm blown away by how brilliant I am in my stupidity. One of the things a lot of people don't know is I met Madonna in this club. And I'm like, do you believe in seizing the opportunity? And she's like, of course I do. And I say, I wrote this song. I would love to send it to you. She's like, well, send it. Amazing.

And so, I'm like, you know, maybe I'll just bring it and give it to her. And I never meant to produce or anything. They're all demos. And so, we just like wrote 15 songs. She picked seven of them that she liked. I got fired in the process because LA Reid thought I was taking her way too far. And I'm like, you're crazy.

I'm like, well, she may lose those 2 million, but she's going to sell 10 million records. >> Yeah. And Alicia was like looking at me.
